34 - Catalan Tapas

Another Tapas adventure. This one was a Catalonian restaurant attached to a deli so was pretty excited to see what they would have. The menu was insane and extensive though I did ignore the "Mackerel Conception" described as : Mackerel semen and eggs on toast. They've also taken a leaf out of Jamie Oliver's book by finding a plank.

Pulma Iberica Spanish Acorn Fed Pork with Caramelised Onion and Roasted Shallot Puree
The deli bar restaurant though lovely was erratic with its service, there was some confusion with the staff and so when this arrived I'd no idea if it was actually the right order. It looked great though so after a few shifty glances around it was time to eat. The meat was tender and looked as dark as medium-rare beef. The puree was strangely nutty and had a light satay taste. This really was amazing. Not having eaten a lot of pork or red-meat in recent years I can say this was probably the best I've ever had.. possibly bar a South African steak I had over there which was something else. I have no idea if being acorn-fed made a difference but this sure was great.
Taste: 4.5/5
Cost:   3.5/5
Speed of Service: 3/5
Magic: 4/5
